Dalcroze
is the ideas and methods developed by Emile Jacques-Dalcroze, who
believed that the core of all musical art is human emotion. He taught
that it is not enough to train just the mind or the ear or the voice.
Instead, the entire human body must be trained since the body contains
all of the essentials for the development of sensibility and analysis of
sound, music and feeling.

Dalcroze
Eurhythmics provides a concrete approach (movement to an abstract art,
music). In learning about time, space, energy,
weight,
and balance through movement, we
develop a framework with which to approach the same elements in music.
Movement is a universal and fundamental human experience. If its impact
in everyday situations is the creative well-spring of the composer, then
human movement is the point of entry to the deepest level of musical
comprehension.

is EXCITING…
Through
participation in simple but brilliantly designed games, exercises, and
improvisations, which make up the curriculum of the Dalcroze method, the
students learn to combine music and movement in order to develop
rhythmic unity between the eye, ear, mind and body. Refining one’s
sense of musical rhythm and energy
provides
a clear outward expression of a more
profound inner knowledge and feeling for the music. This ability
enhances not only a person’s performance, but each and every
person’s life, as a creative and effective form of communication.
